How does the artwork upload work?
Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or SVG and your browser reads the flat colors it is made of, the same way our proofing tools do. Nothing is uploaded to us. Vector formats like PDF, AI and EPS cannot be read in the browser, so export a PNG from your design app first.
What is a PMS color?
PMS stands for Pantone Matching System, the standard ink library printers use so a brand color comes out the same on every job. Each ink has a number, like PMS 286 C. The C means Solid Coated, the version of the book used for most apparel and merch printing.
Why doesn’t my hex color match a Pantone exactly?
Screens mix light (RGB) and ink mixes pigment, so many on-screen colors have no perfect ink twin. The converter ranks the closest inks and labels how close each one is, so you can pick the nearest match or decide to adjust your color.
What does the match label mean?
It is based on ΔE (delta E), the industry measure of color difference. Exact and near-exact matches are ones most people cannot tell apart. Close means the same color, slightly off. Noticeable means a different shade. Loose means a different color, and you should pick another ink or adjust your artwork.
Is the CMYK value press-ready?
It is a plain screen conversion, fine for a quick reference. Real press results depend on the printer’s profile and the stock, so for print jobs we match to a Pantone ink instead.
Which Pantone do I put on my order?
